The Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP) joined the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) in celebrating its 16th anniversary on June 29, 2026.

QCSP was invited to set up an exhibition booth and showcase the SpinQ Gemini Mini, a portable two-qubit quantum computer designed for education and demonstrations. Unlike quantum computers that require highly specialized laboratory environments, the Gemini Mini uses nuclear magnetic resonance technology and can operate at room temperature. Its integrated touchscreen and software allow users to construct quantum circuits and execute them on real quantum hardware, making abstract concepts such as superposition, quantum gates, and measurement easier to understand.
Throughout the event, the QCSP team demonstrated the Gemini Mini to government officials, researchers, innovators, students, and other guests. Visitors were able to see how quantum circuits are created, executed, and measured, giving them a firsthand look at an emerging technology that is expected to influence fields such as cybersecurity, communications, optimization, finance, and scientific research.

QCSP President Bobby O. Corpus Jr. also had the opportunity to meet Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology. Secretary Solidum leads the country’s principal government agency for science, technology, and innovation and has consistently emphasized the importance of strengthening Philippine research capabilities and preparing the country for emerging technologies.
The QCSP team likewise met Nardo Manaloto, founder and managing partner of Qubits Ventures and managing director of the Founder Institute Quantum and Photonics Accelerator. Manaloto has been actively involved in developing quantum and deep-technology ecosystems and connecting researchers and startups with investment and commercialization opportunities.
The anniversary was especially meaningful for QCSP because DOST-PCIEERD has played an important role in the development of the country’s quantum science and technology ecosystem. As one of DOST’s sectoral planning councils, PCIEERD supports research and development, human-resource and institutional development, technology transfer, policy advocacy, and collaboration in industry, energy, and emerging technologies.
PCIEERD has also been a key government partner of QCSP in bringing together stakeholders from government, academe, industry, and the quantum community. Its support has helped advance national conversations on quantum research, workforce development, industry readiness, and the formulation of a Philippine quantum science and technology roadmap. The Council has also supported QCSP-led activities that promote quantum awareness, education, and collaboration across the country.
QCSP’s participation in the anniversary celebration reflected the strong partnership between government and the volunteer-driven quantum community. By presenting an actual quantum computer at the event, QCSP demonstrated how emerging technologies can be made more accessible to Filipinos—not only as ideas for the distant future, but as tools that students, educators, researchers, and innovators can begin exploring today.
As PCIEERD marks 16 years of advancing Philippine research and innovation, QCSP looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the Council in preparing the country for the opportunities and challenges of the emerging quantum era.
