The Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP) conducted an introductory session on quantum computing for students at De La Salle University’s Taft Avenue campus on July 1, 2026.

QCSP President Bobby O. Corpus Jr. was invited by Roger Uy and Dr. Joel Ilao through QCSP Senior Adviser Dr. Henry Adorna. The session formed part of QCSP’s continuing efforts to make quantum computing more accessible to students and strengthen awareness of emerging quantum technologies in Philippine universities.

During the presentation, Corpus introduced the fundamental concepts that distinguish quantum computing from classical computing. He discussed qubits, superposition, measurement, quantum gates, and circuits, as well as some of the potential applications of quantum technologies.

A highlight of the session was the demonstration of the SpinQ Gemini, a desktop quantum computer designed for education and research. Using nuclear magnetic resonance technology, the device enables users to construct and execute quantum circuits on actual quantum hardware at room temperature.

The students had the opportunity to interact with the system, explore its interface, and run quantum circuits themselves. This hands-on activity allowed them to go beyond theoretical discussions and experience how quantum programs are prepared, executed, and measured on a real quantum computer.

The session also featured an engaging exchange between the students and Corpus. Participants raised insightful questions about the capabilities, limitations, and future applications of quantum computers, reflecting their strong curiosity and interest in the field.

Through activities such as this, QCSP hopes to encourage more Filipino students to explore quantum computing and related disciplines. The organization continues to work with universities, government institutions, and industry partners to help develop the knowledge and talent needed for the Philippines to participate meaningfully in the emerging quantum era.
